Carpel Tunnel Surgery
I had my carpel tunnel release surgery done. He has been very professional and efficient surgeon. Easy to access and get appointments as per need. Very clean surgery and good recovery. He listened to my concerns and try to resolve them as possible. A line about his secretary: very approachable and helpful person. Always proactive in listening and trying to resolve.

Bilateral Touch Arthroscopy (Thumb replacement)
Mr Naqui was fantastic from the moment I met him, very approachable and informative He put me at ease with his lovely manner and knowledge. When he looked at my x-ray’s he said it was no wonder I was in so much pain, as my joints had worn away. I was relieved as you feel that people think you are exaggerating how much pain you are in. I can honestly say it was one of the worse pain I have ever felt. Sometimes the pain was like electric shocks shooting up my thumb and into my arm other times it was like really bad pins & needles, but there was always a continual ache.
After suffering with Osteoarthritis for about 4 years, that was gradually getting worse, I had no grip and was finding everyday chores difficult, no strength and had difficulty with work due to pain and discomfort. I was constantly taking pain relief medication the strongest I could get.
I was then referred to Mr Naqui and he suggested I had both thumb joints replaced, he explained the procedure in full and I was nervous but also excited to hopefully get rid of this pain.
I had my first joint replacement at the Spire Manchester in June 2023 and and the procedure was carried out in the morning and when I returned to my room I had a little bit of pain following the surgery but can honestly say that the arthritic pain had gone, I couldn’t believe it after so long in continual pain it felt like a miracle (to me). I was discharged with pain relief but found I didn’t really need it. When I saw Mr Naqui post op I couldn’t wait for my second thumb to be done, we agreed we would give it a few months, but it felt so good I kept on and he eventually agreed to do my 2nd operation at the end of September, and I wasn’t disappointed once again I was arthritic pain free within hours. I even stopped a lady in the Trafford centre who had splints on both her thumbs and I asked if was arthritis, she said it was and I gave her Mr Naqui’s details and told her it was the best thing I ever had done.
Following my operations I saw Sarah Keogh who provided my physiotherapy and she was very knowledgeable and dealt mostly with hand patients she gave me loads of advise on how to strengthen my thumbs and different exercises I could do at home, I was discharged by Sarah 6 weeks following each operation and never looked back.
Donna Clark Mr Naqui’s secretary was lovely always answered any question I had and if she was unavailable when I called she would always return my call, she always put my mind at rest and I appreciated her friendly manner.
I think this procedure should be more available as until, I went to see Mr Naqui I had never heard that thumb joint replacement was a option.

Carpel Tunnel Surgery
I have been a part-time entertainer for 59 years. I play mostly guitar and keyboards. I had problems with my index finger, right hand. I was referred to a surgeon who recommended Carpal Tunnel Surgery that should, he said, cure my problem. I was very wary of being subjected to hand surgery as my musical activities are an enormously important part of my life and I was not about to have surgery without being convinced that this would cure my medical problem without affecting my musical activities. I went ahead with the surgery. Six weeks later my pain was worse and I was referred to Mr Zafar Naqui. On my first consultation, Mr Naqui told me that for 30 years (I think it was 30), he had only dealt with health problems that occurred between fingertips and elbow. I felt relieved by this statement from Mr Naqui and immediately felt both at ease and confident in his ability to cure my hand problem.
I went on to have surgery and quite intensive physiotherapy treatment. The physiotherapy treatment, provided by Ms Sarah Keogh, was also of the highest standard following both operations. The surgery and after-care completely cured my hand problem and when I experienced the same problem with my left hand some time later, I had no concerns about having the same treatment, by the same surgeon (and physiotherapist), on my other hand. I have recently had surgery on my left hand and am back playing instruments at the same standard as before surgery. Thank you to Mr Naqui and his team.

Recently I saw Mr Naqui for Right thumb arthroscopy. I selected Mr Naqui as he has a an up to date clinical skill set relating to hand and wrist care which ensured I had all available treatment options Throughout the process from referral to the post operative stage I could not have wished for a better experience. Mr Naqui is a commensurate professional and I felt I had total trust in his professional acumen. Both my thumbs have been affected by Osteoarthritis which caused marked pain, deformity and weakness. Mr Naqui discussed all options and we agreed arthroscopy was the most appropriate treatment for me. Mr Naqui is one of the few surgeons undertaking this procedure and from the positive feedback had good clinical experience in this procedure which is why I saw him so that I had all treatment options Mr Naqui operated on the most painful joint first and I am now 12 weeks post surgery and the result is amazing and beyond any expectation I had. Living alone and having surgery on my dominant hand was a needless concern as recovery was quite quick with the support of Esther the hand surgery physiotherapist who sees you from pre surgery through to the post operative period. I now pain free with excellent strength with really good aesthetic improvement. This has been so successful I cannot wait for the other thumb to be operated on. A special mention here for the indomitable Donna whose organisational skills augmented the smooth running of the process. I cannot thank Mr Naqui and team enough for transforming my quality of life.

My experience with Mr Naqui was outstanding from the minute of me walking into my consultation, (a nervous wreck), through to having the procedure (carpal tunnel decompression) performed. He is one of the most approachable, caring, understanding and informative doctors I have seen and over the years I have seen many. He went through my medical history and advised I needed this procedure (on the left to start). I am absolutely petrified of needles/injections but he was so reassuring and calming that I agreed to go ahead. He went through the process of the procedure thoroughly and explained in such a way that I was able to understand. I went back to Salford to have the procedure undertaken and again I cannot praise him enough. He was amazing throughout. He talked me through each step of the procedure so I knew what was coming. He spoke to me throughout the procedure about general day to day subjects, just to keep my mind occupied and away from him actually operating on me. I put my whole trust in him and I was thankful I went ahead! He was incredible throughout. I am still in the healing process but my symptoms feel much better than they did prior to the procedure being undertaken and that is all down Mr Naqui, initially making me feel at ease and comfortable enough to proceed with the procedure, and for him to carry out the procedure in such a calming yet professional manner! I would 10000% recommend Mr Naqui.

Thumb Joint replacement
Over the last several years, I have suffered with arthritis of my left thumb which gradually got worse leading to discomfort and an inconvenience with my work as an engineer and with everyday duties. I had a childhood injury with a glass window where I cut through the tendons for my left thumb when I was 14 years old and have struggled with movement ever since. I had several cortisone injections over the last four years to ease the pain, but this eventually got to the point where I struggled to pinch my thumb and finger together and developed an odd lump in my wrist. I was referred to Mr. Naqui, who had many recommendations. From the outset, Mr. Naqui and Ms. Clark was incredibly helpful and accommodating. The surgery itself went very smoothly. Mr. Naqui and the team at The Alexandra were fantastic and quickly eased my apprehension. After the procedure I experienced no pain and minimal discomfort. I was amazed when I stopped taking the pain killers 3 days after surgery, especially after hearing the horror stories from work collogues who had the same condition but had the bone removed with months of pain. I had the operation in April , 2023, and now 12 months on I still cannot believe the results. The surgery was a real life-changing experience for me. It gave me back the movement and flexibility I was lacking, I have more movement now than I have had for the last 20 years. I can’t thank Mr. Naqui and his team enough. I would totally recommend his services and have complete trust in his skill and expertise.

visited Mr Naqui after I started with problems with trigger thumb and pain in the base of my thumb. The diagnosis was confirmed after examination and ultrasound scan. This was then followed up by a further consultation with Mr Naqui where my treatment Options were offered. Mr Naqui took the time to describe my options to me in detail. I was treated using steroid injections by Mr Naqui at the Alexandra hospital. With a final consultation to follow up. At this time the trigger thumb symptoms have disappeared and pain in the base of my thumb is also much reduced. I found Mr Naqui and Donna a pleasure to deal with, Professional, skilful and courteous throughout the process. If required would request his services in the future.

I went to Mr Naqui with a huge ganglion cyst on my finger. He was extremely approachable, professional and inspired confidence. He explained everything thoroughly and carried out the procedure with total care and precision. He referred me to his hand therapist who was equally thorough and caring. The cysts have now been removed and I have full mobility back in the finger. The scar is starting to disappear.
Throughout the whole process, Mr Naqui and his team have given the upmost care and attention, and I have felt completely confident in the outcome. If I ever need similar care in future, I will not hesitate to approach him again. Thank you!!

I’ve had two surgeries now with Mr Naqui and I have to say that it has been an amazing experience from start to finish with both. First was wrist surgery in January of 2021. Now when I need surgery for trigger finger in November 2023, I knew I wanted it with Mr Naqui. It went smoothly and recovery has been great. He has been so reassuring and helpful and I know will be there for me in future if and when needed.

I had my initial consultation with Mr Naqui at the beginning of October due to being diagnosed with Dupuytren’s disease in both hands by my GP.
I found Mr Naqui very knowledgeable, professional and friendly as he carried out his inspection and discussed what procedure could be done and the time frame for the the operation. His secretary Donna was again very helpful and friendly when I spoke to her to arrange my consultation and then the operation afterwards which was carried out two and a half weeks later.
All the staff that I came into contact with at the Alexandra from the reception staff, porters, nurses and my physio Laura were all professional and very friendly which made me feel relaxed at all times and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Following my operation to my left hand little finger there has been little to no pain and now it is very difficult to see any scar to the palm of my hand.
I would like to say thank you to Mr Naqui and all the staff who dealt with me at the Alexandra and for making the whole procedure very easy to organise and stress free. I intend to have the same operation carried out on my right hand in the new year by Mr Naqui at the Alexandra .

I had a really good experience in Dr Naqui’s care for a wrist surgery. The entire procedure was painless at the hospital and afterwards and my injury has completely healed 3 months after the surgery. His team was always responsive and proactive in scheduling appointments. I would highly recommend him.

I saw Mr. Naqui at the Alexandra Hospital for an ongoing discomfort and pain in my right hand ring finger. From my initial consultation to having the procedure and the aftercare, the whole experience from start to finish were exceptional. I would like to say a big thank you to Mr. Naqui’s secretary Donna for arranging my appointments as well as Mr. Naqui himself and his great team have all been amazing throughout. Recovery was virtually painless and my scar from the procedure have healed really well as it’s now hardly noticeable (just after 4 weeks). I would highly recommend Mr. Naqui to anyone needing hand surgery.

I required Carpal Tunnel surgery on my wrist. The experience I received all the way through was exceptional from Dr Naqui and his team.
I was treated with kindness and consideration throughout, and I was always kept regularly informed of what was going to happen. Everything happened within a convenient timeframe, and the surgery has improved my wrist mobility considerably.
Dr Naqui is one of the most pre-eminent hand and wrist surgeons in the UK, and this really shone through with the exceptional level of care I experienced. I would definitely recommend to others!
