This week has been quite inspiring. I have had the opportunity to contribute to the planning of the hand service at the major trauma centre of Salford Royal Foundation Trust. The team is focused on developing excellent clinical services for multiply injured patients and this also includes hand injuries. The post graduate centre at Salford Royal is named after William Mayo, who went on to found the Mayo clinics in the USA. One of his quotes, which is quite inspiring came up during our meeting and it is a motto to which we all aspire. “The best interest of the patient is the only interest to be considered”
